When a younger guy likes you, it seems like his feelings should be obvious – unfortunately, this is not always the case. Some younger guys might be more difficult to read than others. Before you make the first move on a guy, sometimes you want to look for clues that he’s interested first, and this might take some detective work.
Here are some of the signs that he might be into you:
He Initiates Contact with You
If a guy likes you, he will probably start the conversation first. If you are in the same room as him, he will probably come over and talk to you, or he will text you or call you first if you’re not in the same place. He will even come up with excuses to talk to you, such as coming up with questions that he doesn’t need an answer to. If he isn’t initiating contact at least some of the time, he probably isn’t into you that way.
He Adds you on Social Media
Younger guys are more likely to be active on social media, so they will be more likely to add you on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and other sites. By adding you, they will have access to your photos and other info about you. If he likes you, he may do some “stalking” on social media first to find out more details about you without asking in person.
He Gives Mixed Signals
If a younger guy ignores you constantly, this may seem like a sign he’s not interested. However, some younger men may be insecure about their feelings, and they will ignore you at times to hide them. If he alternates between showing interest and acting cold or aloof, this is a good indication that he is trying to hide his feelings. If he acts totally neutral -meaning he doesn’t seem to have feelings at all – he is probably not interested.
He Compliments you on your Appearance
When a guy is interested in you, he will feel compelled to compliment you profusely, especially on your appearance. Men are visual creatures, and a woman’s looks are likely the first thing he’ll notice about you, even though it’s not the only factor that matters. Complimenting you on your appearance is one of the most obvious ways he will let you know he is attracted. The one exception might be if the guy is already your close friend, and he’s just saying it to be nice.
His Body Language
Observing a guy’s body language is an especially important factor in determining whether he’s into you. If he maintains eye contact for a long period of time and his body is turned towards you, these are good signs that he’s interested. When someone is attracted to another person, their pupils dilate as well, though this sign can be hard to assess. If he is interested, he might also come up with excuses to touch you, such as brushing “accidentally” against your arm, or touching your hand.
He Asks Lots of Questions
If a guy is really interested in you, he will want to know all the details of your life, no matter how small. This means he will ask as many questions as possible to try to know more about you. He might also ask seemingly random questions that he doesn’t need an answer to, just attempt to get a conversation going. The key here is that he is asking questions that aren’t just for his personal gain, such as questions about work or school.
He Acts Differently Around You
Watch the way he acts in front of you as opposed to how he acts around his friends or other girls. If a younger guy is really interested, he might take on a completely different persona around you than he would around his guy friends. He might act more nervous around you if he is more of a shy type; if he is more aggressive, he might try to act especially macho around you. This is common “mating” behavior and manifests itself especially in less experienced guys.
If a guy really likes you, it should usually become obvious after a while. These tips are simply meant to be a guide to help decode his behavior. If you really want to find out if a guy likes you, spend as much time with him as possible, watch the way he acts, and the answer should become clear; if he really cares, he shouldn’t be far away from confessing his feelings.
